Glasgow Pizzeria Honoured in Top Ten Pizzas in Europe

Paesano Pizza.jpg

One of Glasgow’s most loved pizzeria’s, Paesano has been voted ninth by Big 7 Travel for the best pizza in Europe.

1.5 million people voted along with a panel of experts to determine the rankings, also taking into account online reviews and notable media coverage. Each country in Europe had at least one entry with some countries having multiple if they were deemed to be of high quality.

Paesano was one of only three UK entries to make the top 50, with the other two coming from south of the border.

Far away from the birthplace of pizza, Paesano was described by the Big 7 Travel as, “Cooked in artisan built wood fired ovens brought over from Naples, their Pizzaiolos take pride in making all pies to pizza Napoletana standard. Their pizza dough is a hybrid yeast and sourdough, proofed for over 48 hours which tastes absolutely fantastic.”

Often the lines wait can be long for Paesano, but it seems nothing compared the first place, Naples restaurant L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, where there are always at least few hours wait according to the travel website.

In the last year, Paesano has opened a second location on Great Western Road along with their original Miller Street location. This year the owners are planning a new pasta restaurant too. Named ‘Sugo’, they are planning the new restaurant on the ground floor of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Lighthouse building on Mitchell Street.
